Final Orientation Meeting Operation TAGHOY - 2008

Final Orientation Meeting Operation TAGHOY Mission Team – 2008

We held our last orientation meeting on January 17, 2008. During that process we reviewed several items such as getting our immunizations, rendezvous and most importantly we received our tickets.

Another part of our journey will be the “packing party” to be held on February 9 in Lakewood. Here we will finalize the packing of 18 boxes of supplies which we will check-in as “checked baggage” when we depart Denver on February 21st.

There are 37 participants, 18 of which will depart from Denver on February 21st. Another 2 will join us in San Francisco, 9 will meet us in Manila, 2 more will be with us in Iloilo and the last 6 we’ll meet in San Jose, Philippines.

This is truly an international mission. Aside from Colorado, there are members from the states of Virginia, Massachusetts, Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, Pennsylvania and also from the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Philippines.

San Jose does not have a hotel large enough to accommodate all 37 participants. So we have reservations for 11 rooms in the Centillion Hotel and 11 rooms in the Pinnacle Hotel.

There are some 60 patients that may be selected for surgery after the on-site initial screening in San Jose. Once this screening is completed and time permitting, some members of the Outreach group will go out into the surrounding communities to visit previous patients.

Considering that we will have a total of 4 days for surgery I think our schedule will be “maxed out” for the remainder of our time in San Jose. There is one thing though, who could get tired when one is committed to seeing this opportunity to fruition! We are all looking forward (including the patients) to a successful Mission 2008.

Respectfully submitted, Don Wollenzien
