Arriving in Taipea

The Colorado contigent arrived safely in Taipea on Saturday morning, 6:00 am. The transfer of UI boxes of supplies and medical equipment at DIA went without a hitch. Every volunteer checked in with one piece of personal luggage and a UI box. We arrived about 10 min late in San Francisco, and got checked in for the international flight to Taipea. After a 3 hour layover here, it will be on to Manilla and from there, Iloilo followed by a 2-hour road trip to San Jose.... about 30 hours total travel. All the volunteers are anticipating a wonderful and rewarding week.

Youth blogger

Today is departure day! We are anxious and excited about the mission trip. Mostly, we hope to do whatever we can to help the kids. We plan to use the universal language of play to communicate with the children. We are hoping in some way to make a small difference in their lives. Follow our activities on the blog as the mission progresses.

Mission 08 Send-off

Thanks to our gracious hosts, Operation Taghoy mission team '08 had our pre-mission send-off Sunday, Feb 17th at Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church. Several team members attended the 10:30 service and received a blessing from Dr. Ethan Raath, pastor of the Church. Afterward, we gathered for donuts and coffee and heard last minute instructions for departure. Preparations are finally complete for the mission. Boxes and suitcases are packed, and the team is eager to start the work of Mission '08 in San Jose, Antique. It is with humble hearts that we anticipate the week to come. It is exciting to think of the children whose lives will be changed by surgery during the coming days. Check the blog daily to follow our activites.
